Look, i couldn't possibly have made up the name "festus". Yes, it's a town in Missouri, and i apologise to anyone who lives there who happens to stumble across this page, but for heaven's sake, it sounds like Gomez Addams' long-lost brother. What were they thinking? Anyway, this is one of the "cheap and friendly" most commonly seen labelled "Engineering Instruments Co., Peru, IN". They were sold under a few different names, but they're all pretty much the same: simple wooden rules with painted scales and simple cursors. This one's a little nicer than most: the maginfying cursor is a nice touch, even if it doesn't magnify much at all. This one came in an obviously hand-made case. Someone cared a lot about this rule.
